Chairman's Report

July 2006

Understanding the importance of a strong Executive Director, The Board of Directors of the United Chambers of Commerce hired Sarah Finn Haskell in June of 2005.

During the past year, Sarah has been a complement to that Board. Coming on at the ‘crunch time’ of the Mayors’ Luncheon, she parlayed the results produced by Richard Leyner and Gloria Pollack into a HUGELY successful event.

Sarah brought polish, civility, style and grace to the position of Executive Director.

Sarah carried out the Board’s wishes, organized multiple events and oversaw everyday operations. Her poise and smiling face became the standard for the United Chambers. Sarah is that staff who allows volunteers to be effective and rationalized the mundane office ‘stuff’.

Last month, Sarah gave me her news that she was on her way to Europe for a ‘time’ and then off to Interior Design. We knew that Sarah was ours for only a short time, now we bid her bon voyage and wish her well as she ventures into new avenues of life.

I believe that organizations are sent individuals who match contemporary needs of that organization. The Search Committee interviewed six candidates for the position of Executive Director. Every candidate had wonderful talents and qualifications; however, only one came up to the standard set by Sarah.

That woman is Amy Haendle. Amy’s talents and skills will sustain the renaissance now underway at the United Chambers! Amy shared some new ideas and they sound wonderful. Please join me as we welcome her. Her first event is the General Assembly meeting at the Porter Valley Country Club on July 12.

Every member of every member chamber is welcome! The program is Member Chamber oriented. Come and welcome & meet the United Chambers new Executive Director. You will have a great time and find good business information.
