The United Chambers of Commerce Government Affairs Committee took the following positions(s) on May 18, 2020
OPPOSED: Prop 13 Split Roll Modifying provisions of the 1978 Prop 13 by reassessing commercial property and eliminating the maximum yearly increase to be on the November ballot.
SB 1431: Will clear the way for landlords to request property tax reassessments based on financial losses attributable to the virus. These damages would need to come from rent freezes, eviction moratoria and other tenant protections imposed by governments in response to the virus
SB 1410: Provide an Emergency Rental Assistance Program having rental payments directly to housing provider to cover at least 80% of unpaid rents because of COVID-19.
The United Chambers of Commerce Government Affairs Committee meets monthly on the third Monday of each month and is focused on bringing forth and taking positions on issues that can affect our San Fernando Valley businesses.
