Mayor Tamala Takahashi
City of Glendale
27 years as a Burbankian, three on Council, one as Vice Mayor and One as Mayor, also Therapist, Mom, Community Builder Artist, Sitting Mayor, and Neighbor.
Tamala Takahashi is not a career politician — she is a 27-year resident who showed up to a City Commission meeting one day and never stopped showing up. Elected to Burbank City Council in 2022, she was chosen by her colleagues as Vice Mayor in December 2024 and then Mayor in December 2025. Today she serves both as Councilmember and sitting Mayor — chairing a California-wide policy committee and asking voters to keep her at the table for the next four years.
Her self-description, “I am not a politician. I am a neighbor who showed up — and kept showing up”.
I moved to Burbank in 1999. Raised three kids here with my husband Yoshi. Started a Therapy Practice, founded community groups, served on City Commissions and nonprofit boards. I knew the people who built this city long before I had a vote in Council chambers.
Then I ran for Council in 2022 — and won. Vice Mayor in December 2024. Mayor in December 2025. I have spent every one of those days listening, collaborating, and delivering — the same way I show up as a Therapist, a Mom, and a Neighbor.
